DESCRIPTION:EVERY BRILLIANT THING \nA Celebration of Life\, Laughter\, and Connection \nBoulder\, CO – This holiday season\, Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company invites audiences to experience Every Brilliant Thing\, a moving\, intimate one-person show that reminds us of all the reasons to live. Featuring actor Matt Zambrano\, this production blends humor\, heart\, and immersive audience engagement\, creating a performance that is as participatory as it is poignant. \nDirected by Jessica Robblee\, Every Brilliant Thing opens Friday\, December 6\, and runs through Sunday\, December 28 at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder. In honor of the age-old practice of gathering around the fire and lighting lights in the midst of dark winter – to find each other and the light we can be for each other\, we scheduled this show in our December slot. The troubles of the world feel mighty at this moment\, and I love how this play reminds us our hearts\, our kindnesses\, our love for each other are equally mighty.” – Director\, Jessica Robblee \n  \nTicket Information: \nOn-stage tickets: $12\nDecember 6-28\, Fridays & Saturdays: 7 PM | Sundays: 2 PM\nFor tickets and information: [https://betc.org/event/every-brilliant-thing/]

SUMMARY:Stone Cottage Studios Presents Ryan Dart
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to an unforgettable music experience with Ryan Dart and his band Saturday December 13th! Join us for this intimate and exclusive concert in our historic downtown Boulder location at 1928 Pearl St. Mix and mingle then kick back and relax for the show. Doors – 6:00PM\, LIVE – 7PM \nAbout Ryan Dart \nRyan Dart’s music encompasses the worlds that he lives in. You can’t sing about needing rain\, unless you really know what it means to need rain. As a grandson of the dust bowl and a steward of the land\, Dart’s unique blend of modern knowledge and continual search for forgotten truths has led to this most recent collection\, Edge of the Wild. Dart sings scenes from underneath a Roman Colosseum to frame standout lines like\, “Trying to tell myself the truth / Looking for the same in you” or longing for a return to the road with the album’s opening track “Ready for the Road”. Dart showcases his significant lyrical evolution since his first release a decade ago with pandemic- and quarantine-inspired tracks like “Loves Gone Outta Style” and “Right or Wrong.” \n“In a world where it’s increasingly difficult to find something real to connect with\, Ryan Dart and his music do just that\,” says Daniel Sproul (Rose Hill Drive\, Ryan Bingham\, Hard Working Americans). “Theres no mistaking the soul and authenticity that he brings with his lyrics and tunes. Edge of the Wild gives you all of that and more.”

SUMMARY:Brad Williams
DESCRIPTION:“No one is doing stand-up comedy more hilariously than Brad Williams.” – New York Times \nPound for pound\, Brad Williams is the funniest comedian in the country right now\, and has become one of the most in-demand comedians working today. Williams started doing stand-up comedy as a teenager and has been touring successfully ever since\, routinely selling out prestigious venues all over the country and world. \nWilliams has parlayed his live performances into a multitude of stand-up television appearances\, including The Tonight Show\, Dave Attell’s Comedy Underground\, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. His first one-hour special\, Fun Size\, was the highest rated special on Showtime\, and a year later\, he followed that up with his second one\, Daddy Issues\, which was even more successful than the first. His third special in three years was an uproarious one\, hosting some of the edgiest comedians in the country from the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. His last groundbreaking special on Netflix\, The Degenerates\, garnered more huge ratings and rave reviews. \nAlso an accomplished actor\, Williams has appeared on numerous TV shows and feature films\, including FX’s Legit\, Sam and Cat\, Mind of Mencia\, Pitboss\, a recurring role on the Hulu original show Deadbeat\, and memorable roles in a plethora of movies\, including Little Evil\, produced by Scott Stuber (Ted)\, as well as the Netflix original Christopher Guest film\, Mascots\, and most recently Reno 911: It’s A Wonderful Heist. \nRecently\, Brad became the first stand-up comedian to headline a Cirque de Soleil show in their 30 year history\, when he agreed to launch—and do a three month run of—their newest show Mad Apple\, at the magnificent 1200 seat New York New York Theater in Las Vegas. The show became an immediate smash hit to rave revues\, singling out Williams for his incredible ability to captivate his audiences with his extraordinary performances. \nIn addition to stand-up and acting\, Williams co-created and co-hosted one of the most successful podcasts in the world\, with friend and fellow comic Adam Ray\, entitled About Last Night\, which was always a mainstay on the iTunes charts during their five year run. Additionally\, he is also a regular contributor with a series of incredibly funny appearances on several national radio and podcast platforms\, including KROQ’s Kevin and Bean Show and The Adam Carolla Show. \nWilliams’ humorous and inspiring observations on disability\, relationships\, sex\, and race consistently win over audiences; proving anyone can overcome their shortcomings. His high energy live performances frequently produce standing ovations from audience members; which prompted the late Robin Williams to call him “Prozac with a head.”

SUMMARY:Circle Singing with Creativity Alive & Roy Willey
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a night of Circle Singing in the beautiful energy and resonance of the Labyrinth at Boulder’s First United Methodist Church. These evenings are a luscious dive into the practice of Circle Singing\, a community singing and sounding practice\, spontaneous and evolving — like a drum circle for voices.\nBased on practices developed by Bobby McFerrin and his collaborators\, Circle Singing is a supportive\, judgment-free space to play with your voice. Leaders create songs in the moment — patterns\, percussive sounds\, rhythms\, harmonies\, melodies\, recognizable words\, or invented language — and teach the parts orally to the rest of the group. The parts layer together into completely original compositions\, each song a unique creation\, never sung before\, never to be sung again.\nIt’s a very organic\, playful\, community singing experience. All voices are welcome!\n$25\nFree parking. Details sent out with advance registration.

SUMMARY:eTown Presents Glen Phillips (of Toad the Wet Sprocket) with Anna Cutler
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 6 p.m.\nShow: 7 p.m. \nAll Ages Welcome\nNo Refunds or Exchanges \nWith every eTown ticket purchase\, you’re supporting the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. eTown donates $1 per ticket to Conscious Alliance\, aiding hunger relief\, youth programs and sustainable solutions for the Oglala Lakota Nation. \nAbout Glen Phillips: \nDuring his years as lead singer and main songwriter of Toad the Wet Sprocket\, Glen Phillips helped to create the band’s elegant folk/pop sound with honest\, introspective lyrics that forged a close bond with their fans. When Toad went on hiatus\, Glen launched a solo career with his album Abulum\, and stayed busy collaborating with other artists on various projects including Mutual Admiration Society\, with members of Nickel Creek and Remote Tree Children\, an experimental outing with John Morgan Askew. \n“Until recently\, I’ve seldom stayed in one place for very long\,” Glen says\, explaining the genesis of his new album\, THERE IS SO MUCH HERE. “I was lucky during the COVID lockdown to move in with my girlfriend\, now wife\, and to be home for the longest stretch I’ve had since the birth of my daughter\, 20 years ago. I began noticing the little things. After a life of travel and seeking out peak experiences\, I began to appreciate sitting still\, watching the paint dry and loving it\,” he says. “I’ve been playing a songwriting game with Texas folk singer Matt The Electrician\, for about ten years. Every Friday\, he sends out a title. We have a week to write a song that includes it. The process allows me to write songs I wouldn’t write on my own. I’m always surprised at what comes out.” \n“When my friend John [Morgan Askew] invited me to come up to his studio and make music\, I said\, ‘Yes’\, as I collected a bunch of the new songs and headed up to Bocce Studios\, in Vancouver\, WA. John invited drummer Ji Tanzer and bass player/multi-instrumentalist Dave Depper along. When we started playing\, I wasn’t sure we were aiming for\, but as the process unfolded\, the songs began to make sense together.” \nGlen’s previous solo record\, SWALLOWED BY THE NEW\, was about grief\, a post-divorce outing while THERE IS SO MUCH HERE finds him writing love songs again focusing on gratitude\, beauty and staying present. “With this batch of songs\, I noticed I was writing hopeful music again\,” he says. “I’d turned the corner and was more interested in curiosity and play than I was in gazing at my navel. I was finally in a state of being that wasn’t about grief and loss. Things felt doable and even exciting again.” \n“As I sat still during the lockdown\, I realized how much is always here – in the space around me\, in the sensations of my body\, in the sounds and smells and tastes and thoughts that emerge and drift away. It’s not a new concept\, but it is a novel experience when you’ve spent your life running from one thing to another.” \nUltimately\, as Glen reflects on the album\, he shares: “This is an album about showing up for what is and letting it be enough.” \nAbout Anna Cutler: \nAnna Cutler is a singer/songwriter and keyboardist based out of Boulder\, Colorado. She started playing the keyboard at the age of six\, by 13 she had booked her first gig\, and by 18 she had performed to a crowd of 3\,000 people. \nAbove anything else\, Anna is an entertainer. Inspired by other singer-songwriters like Norah Jones and John Craigie\, she loves to connect with fans through lyrics and storytelling. She often sings about the romance of life and the downfalls of love\, and offers her audience a bit of comic relief in-between songs. She shines brightest when performing live\, and captivates the crowd\, whatever the size\, with her witty charm and truthful portrayal of life. \nIt is not easy to stick Anna into a single genre. Her voice is raspy yet sweet and she writes music as if she were the lovechild of Adele and Regina Spektor; call it Americana/Folk-Pop with ballad undertones if you must. \nAnna Cutler was selected as one of ten finalists in the nationally recognized songwriting competition at Folks Fest in 2023. Her song “Candle” was selected out of over 400 entries and secured her a performance on the Main Stage at Planet Bluegrass\, and in 2024 she took home a second place award for her song “Temporary Fall.”

SUMMARY:Aaron Abke -- "The Three Beliefs of Ego"
DESCRIPTION:Aaron Abke will speak about and sign his new book\, The Three Beliefs of Ego: A Sufferer’s Guide to Freedom\, on Wednesday\, December 10th at 6:30pm\, at Boulder Bookstore. Tickets for this event are $5 (plus a small processing fee) and are available on Eventbrite. \nAbout the Book:\nThe Three Beliefs of Ego explores a simple but transformative idea: that the ego\, often misunderstood\, is structured around three unconscious beliefs — lack\, attachment\, and control. These beliefs quietly shape how we think\, feel\, and respond to life\, giving rise to emotional pain. \nIn this debut work\, spiritual teacher Aaron Abke draws from his background in both Christian theology and nondual spiritual teachings\, incorporating both Eastern and Western perspectives to map a clear path toward healing. At the heart is the Emotional Guidance System\, a practical tool for recognizing ego patterns in daily life and shifting beyond them. This book offers a direct and accessible framework for anyone looking to understand the roots of suffering and rediscover a more peaceful\, authentic way of being. \nIMPORTANT TICKETING AND EVENT INFORMATION\nTickets are $5 (plus a small processing fee).\nA coupon good for $5 off a copy of The Three Beliefs of Ego\, or a purchase on the day of the event is included with your ticket. SUMMARY:"Inaccessible" Presented by onX
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the premiere of “Inaccessible\,” a powerful new film that inspires\, educates\, and mobilizes a movement for our public lands. \nIn this one-of-a-kind story\, ski film veteran Griffin Post joins fellow athletes Eric Jackson and Emilé Zynobia to look beyond the steepest lines and biggest peaks to find public land on an expedition into a landscape divided. “Inaccessible” reveals landlocked boundaries that partition millions of acres of public land from the public\, and follows a search for something deeper than snow. A ski film that tackles an issue commonly known to hunters\, this film reveals that landlocked land is bigger than any single boundary line or pursuit. \nFollowing the screening\, a live panel discussion will feature athletes from the film\, Ryan “Cal” Callaghan from MeatEater\, and Jim Petterson from the Trust for Public Land. The conversation will be moderated by Whitney Potter Schwartz from Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. \nExplore new products and enjoy giveaways from onX and film partners\, including Smartwool\, Decked\, and Tin Cup. \nDon’t miss the kickoff event of the snow season! \nLearn more about “Inaccessible” at onXmaps.com/inaccessible

While perusing ceramic mugs\, clever mixed-media\, botanically-dyed bags and silk abstracts\, give back by dropping off a non-perishable food item for Emergency Family Assistance Association during TNL Holiday Pop-Up hours. We will be collecting items at The New Local Annex and The New Local Gallery (741 Pearl St.) on those select days. (*May keep the barrels for collecting donations throughout the holiday season.)
